Drug Trafficking and Money Laundering

Southwest T and his brother, Big Meech, established the Black Mafia Family, a drug trafficking and money laundering enterprise, during their high school years. Founded in 1985 in Detroit, Michigan, USA, the brothers demonstrated remarkable skills in expanding their illicit networks across various states.

In a remarkably short period, the organization employed over 500 individuals responsible for trafficking vast quantities of cocaine across multiple states.

Notably, the Black Mafia Family’s operations reached significant states such as Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, California, Michigan, Missouri, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, and Tennessee.

In 2003, a disagreement arose between the brothers, leading Terry Flenory to relocate to Los Angeles, California, USA, where he established his own business. Meanwhile, Big Meech remained in Atlanta, and they pursued their ventures separately.

Two years later, in 2005, both BMF brothers were arrested on multiple cocaine possession charges. Following their trial, they were found guilty of operating a criminal enterprise. Consequently, in 2008, they were each sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic’s spread in prisons, Terry Flenory and other inmates, including Big Meech’s brother, were released to home confinement in May 2020. Terry’s release was granted primarily due to his deteriorating health condition. However, Big Meech remains incarcerated, serving his sentence.

The BMF has created various documentaries and TV shows centered around their organization. These productions intertwine elements of family drama, drug trafficking, and money laundering. One notable documentary is “BMF: The Rise and Fall of a Hip-Hop Drug Empire.”

The brothers entered the entertainment industry by launching a hip-hop record label as a front for their illicit activities. They quickly established the label by leveraging their connections with renowned celebrities like T.I., Fabulous, Jay-Z, Trina, and Shawty Lo. Additionally, the brand provided support to various artists, including Young Jeezy.
